Demag Cranes equips Caterpillar production facility in Brazil
Düsseldorf, 25. January 2011
- Contract covers 102 standard cranes
- Latin America is the backbone of growth strategy in emerging markets
Demag Cranes has received an order from Caterpillar Inc. in Brazil to equip its new production facility with handling technology. The package covers 102 standard cranes to be integrated in the production lines for backhoe loaders and small wheel loaders.
Thomas H. Hagen, Member of the Management Board of Demag Cranes AG and responsible for business operations, emphasises, “This order from Caterpillar underlines our excellent foothold in the Latin American marketplace and, in particular, in Brazil. This region has tremendous potential and has been the backbone of our growth strategy in emerging markets.”
Worldwide manufacturing network has proven its worth
This delivery to Caterpillar is further proof of our well-established presence in this, the largest South American country. Since 1972, Demag Cranes has been represented in Brazil by its own regional subsidiary, headed by Vigold Georg. Today, that facility in São Paulo is a key component in Demag Cranes’ global manufacturing network.
The 102 cranes ordered by Caterpillar are designed to be attached to the existing roof construction, which means that no additional crane runway supports will be required. The tailor-made crane sets are to be supplied by the German component facility in Wetter, while the Sao Paulo subsidiary is responsible for the steel construction, assembling and installing the cranes on-site. Thanks to this tried-and-tested worldwide production strategy, Demag Cranes is able at any time to respond quickly to customer requirements and provide market-driven solutions.
